The History of our practice
Four Paws Veterinary Services was started in 2000 as a house call only veterinary care service. Doctors Cheryl and Lawrence Monteiro traveled to home and business locations in southern New London County, Connecticut and southern Washington County, Rhode Island providing small animal health care services including preventative and sick animal examinations, laboratory diagnostics, treatment of medical illness and preventative care services.
In 2006, Four Paws Veterinary Services, PC purchased Old Mystic Animal Clinic, establishing the ability to provide clinic-based services such as hospitalization of sick patients, radiology services and dental and surgical procedures. The acquisition of Old Mystic Animal Clinic necessitated the addition of receptionists and veterinary assistants to help deliver veterinary care services to the expanded patient/client population. During the next five years, Four Paws Veterinary Services, PC continued to grow resulting in the addition of two more veterinarians. In 2011, Four Paws Veterinary Services, PC moved to its current location at 151 Cow Hill Road, Mystic, Connecticut. The new clinic has provided clients with easier access and parking space and a more comfortable reception area. Our patients benefit from species specific exam rooms designed for cats and dogs, an enlarged treatment area and intensive care ward, species specific hospitalization wards, a dedicated dental procedure suite and an expanded two table operating room. The new clinic allows the veterinarians and support staff of Four Paws Veterinary Services, PC to provide our clients and patients with a comfortable environment whether receiving wellness care or diagnostic and treatment procedures for illness. With four veterinarians practicing together, we enjoy the benefit of our combined training and experience in managing both straightforward and complicated cases. The veterinarians are presently aided by a 20 member support team consisting of receptionists, licensed veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants and clinic administrator. We are able to provide a large number of appointment times allowing for increased accessibility to veterinary care services with decreased wait times. If your cat, dog or small mammal is in need of veterinary care, we would be happy to assist you. |
